Style icons

Style icons

What did Audrey Hepburn and Jackie Onassis- Kennedy have in common? They were both light orange, both from 1929, and deep colors looked best on them. Deep colours and therefore beautiful dressed in black (Little Black Dress). They had an elegant, timeless style and understood ‘the art of omission’. No excessive jewellery, but a sparing use of accessories. They weren’t walking ads, and wore little make-up. They came across as self-assured but were inherently insecure. They are still labelled as style icons years after their death.
Isn’t it time to start labelling living people as style icons? Women who can also make a statement, wearing contemporary clothing and living in this emancipated society. Women like Taylor Swift and Olivia Palermo (both orange), or Kim Kardashian (green) who serves as a role model for many, especially since she accentuates her round figure rather than camouflaging it. Or like (purple) Queen Maxima and (purple) Michelle Obama with their stylish appearance?
